Job Description
The VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, TX is actively recruiting for a radiation oncologist. The Dallas VA Medical Center offers high quality specialty services and is equipped with advanced medical technology including computerized patient medical records, bar coded medication administration, and automated pharmacy and laboratory services. Two high-energy linear accelerators with multi-leaf collimators, IMPAC record and verify system, a state of the art CT Simulator, HDR, and IMRT and 3-D treatment planning are some of the technologies found in the Radiation Oncology Service. In this position, the radiation oncologist is responsible for clinical treatment and management of patients referred with cancer and certain benign conditions. Duties include the consultation of new patients, performing history and physical examinations, preparation of treatment plans, associated follow up care as well as active participation in relevant committees including the cancer program and multi-disciplinary tumor boards. All duties and responsibilities are carried out on-site and independently in accordance with Veterans Administration policies and guidelines, and are supervised by the Chief, Radiation Oncology Service. On call duties are required on a rotating basis with other staff physicians.

VANTHCS is an integrated health care system serving veteran patients in 38 counties, including 2 in Oklahoma. In addition to a wide variety of acute care services, VANTHCS provides over one million outpatient visits a year combined at our Dallas, Bonham, Tyler and Fort Worth locations.

Requirements
Qualifications must include U.S. citizenship, an active medical license to practice in any state, territory or commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia, board certification/eligibility by the American Board of Radiology and strong academic research is desired but not required.
