Company Overview
The University of Mississippi Medical Center, located in Jackson, Mississippi, is the state's only academic health science center. UMMC encompasses six health science schools: medicine, nursing, dentistry, health related professions, graduate studies and pharmacy. Enrollment in all programs is more than 3,000 students. The Medical Center's mission is to improve the health and well-being of patients and the community through excellent training for health-care professionals, engagement in innovative research, and the delivery of state-of-the-art health care.
Company History
UMMC was established in Jackson in 1955. Its precursor was the two year University of Mississippi School of Medicine established in 1903 on the main campus of the University in Oxford. UMMC reports through its Chief Executive Officer, The Chancellor of the University of Mississippi, to the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL), the governing body for the state’s eight public universities.
