As a quaternary referral center, we perform MRI for a broad range of diseases including prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, gynecological cancers, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma; and a variety of hepatobiliary diseases including cirrhosis and primary sclerosing cholangitis, and MR elastography.Clinical instructors will learn to perform a variety of procedures, including solid organ and lung biopsies, abscess drainages, thoracenteses and paracenteses, thyroid nodule biopsies and fluoroscopically-guided GI tract interventions. This unique training opportunity is held in one of the premier academic communities in the country with a robust data infrastructure to engage in clinical research if desired.
The UVA Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging provides final reads to our ED patients on a 24-7 basis with overnight coverage being provided by our fellows who elect to participate in the program. Overnight work can be performed from home, and includes subspecialty attending back-up as needed. This optional program bolsters income in a comfortable environment, while promoting the maintenance and further development of general radiology skills in preparation for boards and practice.
