Chair, Department of Medicine

Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) – East Meadow, NY

Nassau University Medical Center, a 530-bed academic teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center, seeks an experienced physician leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Medicine.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Chair will provide strategic, clinical, operational, and academic leadership for Internal Medicine and its subspecialties, overseeing approximately 60 providers across multiple divisions. Responsibilities include advancing quality outcomes, improving operational performance, supporting graduate medical education, enhancing physician engagement, and driving service-line growth.

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine
• Eligible for New York medical licensure
• Significant physician leadership experience (Division Chief, Vice Chair, Medical Director, or equivalent)

Preferred

• Academic appointment at Associate Professor level or higher
• MBA, MHA, MPH, or similar advanced degree
• Experience in an academic medical center, safety-net hospital, or public health system
