Description
Help us grow our team to improve access to behavioral health services! The Department of Pediatrics with the UVA School of Medicine has several openings for clinical faculty psychologists in Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health. Rank, track and salary will be commensurate with experience. We have several focus areas of need but are open to considering candidates with other areas of interest and expertise as we continue to grow services at our children's hospital.Areas of focus include:
- Outpatient Specialty Mental Health
- The psychologists will conduct outpatient mental and behavioral health assessments and evidence-based interventions for youth and families at the Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health clinic. The clinic houses specialty mental health services by child psychology and psychiatry as well as services by Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Integrative Medicine, offering opportunities for consultation and collaboration.
- Integrated Pediatric Primary Care
- The psychologists will join the team at one of the four UVA Health Children's general pediatrics clinics, specifically Orange or Northridge. She/he/they will conduct screening and assessment of mental health and behavioral concerns in addition to brief, targeted behavioral health interventions in the primary care setting. The position also involves collaborating with psychologists and pediatricians across all four general pediatric clinics and the Teen and Young Adult Health Center to develop and implement a robust integrated primary care program for patient populations in Charlottesville and surrounding communities.
- Diabetes Prevention
- This psychologist will join an interprofessional team treating youth at high risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes, many of whom have obesity and related health complications Responsibilities will include providing evidence based psychological evaluation and treatment for youth and families in addition to consultation to others on the interprofessional team.

- Psychological Assessment Program Development and Leadership
Additional expectations of all clinical faculty members:
- Provide consultation to medical and interprofessional teams
- Teach medical fellows, residents, and medical students. Opportunities are also available to teach psychology practicum students.
- Participate in departmental and health system committees and continuing education offerings
UVA Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health, part of UVA Health Children's, provides integrated behavioral health services to a broad spectrum of children and families. The division currently includes eleven pediatric and clinical child psychologists and is rapidly growing within a highly collaborative academic medical environment. Psychologists work closely with pediatricians, fellows, advanced practice providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary health professionals to deliver comprehensive care. We seek candidates who will strengthen our commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and collegial collaboration.
