Description
The University of Virginia Department of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology and University of Virginia Children's Hospital seeks a full-time, open track, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with expertise in non-invasive imaging (transthoracic, transesophageal, and preferably fetal echocardiography) with potential consideration of Echocardiography Laboratory Director for qualified candidates.Candidates must have an MD or DO and be board-eligible or board-certified in pediatric cardiology. Clinical expertise in transthoracic and transesophageal imaging is required. Fetal echocardiography experience would be beneficial, but is not required. An active research program is desirable. Salary and rank are dependent upon qualifications.
Clinical work will be focused in imaging but candidate will also participate in inpatient general pediatric cardiology service and 1 half-day of outpatient clinic per week. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to teaching of medical students, pediatric residents and pediatric cardiology fellows along with other academic pursuits.
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is a strong division, composed of senior and junior faculty and currently comprises 11 cardiologists offering a full range of services, including single ventricle palliation, pediatric cardiac transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, a dedicated adult congenital heart disease program, and full-service interventional cardiology and electrophysiology programs. There is also an active pediatric cardiology fellowship program. There are two congenital heart surgeons and a dedicated cardiac intensive care unit. Our heart program has been ranked in the top 50 in the US News and World Report annual survey each of the past 8 years. We also have a strong relationship with and serve as a referral center for multiple other institutions in the state.
