Description
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (NDBP), within the University of Virginia and UVA Health Children's seeks candidates for a board-eligible/board-certified Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. Salary and rank are dependent upon qualifications and experience. For information regarding faculty tracks, Visit https://faculty.med.virginia.edu/facultyaffairs/advancement/pandt/faculty-tracks/Our patient population includes children with neurodevelopmental or behavioral concerns, autism, intellectual disability, high-risk infant follow up, mental/emotional/behavioral problems (MEB), neuro-motor disabilities (i.e. cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders) and children at risk due to early childhood adversity. Patients are seen in the new Riverside Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health Center (opening late 2024) and the Battle Building (outpatient) of the UVA Health Children's Hospital adjacent to the UVA Health Medical Center as well as various rural outreach clinics. We work alongside a growing pediatric psychology service, including clinical psychology experts in autism, behavior and issues that apply to underserved families. We also have numerous shared interdisciplinary clinics with neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopedics, PT, OT, SLP, SW, nutrition, educational consultants, and family navigators.
NDBP co-hosts one of the prestigious HRSA Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) called Blue Ridge LEND and focuses on training the next generation of interdisciplinary graduate level trainees in developmental disability, especially in rural and underserved areas. The division has a longstanding Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric fellowship program, is actively involved in the UVA pediatric residency program, and supports a highly competitive medical school, all co-located within walking distance of the medical center. The NDBP division has a strong and lasting relationship with the School of Education where the cross-institution Supporting Transformative Autism Research (STAR) center is based. In addition to autism-related international and national research projects, the STAR and NDBP collaborate on clinical and educational endeavors related to autism.
