- Plastic Surgery Faculty Position, Division of Plastic Surgery
Description
The Department of Surgery at the University of New Mexico (UNM) is seeking a full-time academic plastic surgeon to join our Division of Plastic Surgery. The Faculty of the UNM Plastic Surgery Division provide a broad array of clinical services to ensure the highest quality care for all patients; this includes oncologic reconstruction, trauma (including facial and hand trauma), microvascular reconstruction, burn reconstruction, hand surgery, aesthetic and craniofacial procedures.
The clinical focus for this position will be general plastic surgery, including oncologic and post traumatic reconstruction. Microvascular training and/or experience is ideal. Fellowship-trained applicants are encouraged to apply, but completion of a fellowship is not a requirement for this position. The clinical position includes taking Plastic surgery call with the option to take paid facial trauma and hand call.
The successful applicant will be a Core Plastic surgery faculty for the UNM integrated Plastic Surgery Residency program that graduates two residents per year and has an excellent track record on all ACGME metrics.
This position is open-rank, appointment at 1.0 FTE. As a full time academic surgeon, the successful applicant will have access to a variety of educational and research opportunities including clinical, outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery research. The selected candidate must be team-oriented and collaborative with colleagues within and outside the division.
Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Medical Doctor or equivalent
- Completed or will be completing an ACGME- accredited residency in plastic surgery
- Board-certified/Board-eligible in Plastic Surgery
- Eligible for New Mexico Board licensure
- Eligible for New Mexico Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registration
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

- Microvascular surgical experience and training
- Interest and experience in research
